Nice food but very little meat and veg and gravy only lukewarm. In fact the Toby does not seem very managed at all. Shame the breakfast let it down on this occasion. Rooms have been updated to a good standard. Needless to stay, I will not be giving them a 3rd chance, which is a pity because it is close to my niece's place and was in a convenient location. She was also by the door as we checked out an hour later, and my wife defintely detected some sarcasm in her voice when she said "Have a nice stay" but not have a nice day. Even then she made no effort to fill the vessels and when I asked her again for milk for my coffee, she audibly sighed as if it was so much effort. There were quite a few in the restaurant but the waitress simply did not accept that there was no milk available in either of two vessels, checking for herself BEFORE handing over a 3/4 bottle in her hand to pour on to my cereal. I cannot fault the Carvery, but the problems arose in the morning at breakfast. I stayed here in Jan 2019 and was a little critical of the place but deserved a second go. When I asked at reception, the chap agreed it was "badly worded". I knew from the booking that breakfast was NOT included in the price, so I was surprised when a blackboard stated "Free breakfast, Free wi-fi and Free parking" at the entrance. Maybe someone with age and people skills might make breakfast a better experience? More Show less It’s the staff that can make your stay pleasant. I am duty manager at a hotel myself, and I have never witness such rudeness as this. So we knew she was taking the P-S! I am normally placid. ! She made things as awkward as possible and when we departed she was standing at reception and sarcastically said “ bye, have a good day, “ in the nastiest way. Even then she did not bother to replenish the urns. This member of staff almost accused him of lying when he said there was no milk in either urn on opposite sides of the room. My husband had to go twice in search of milk for his corn flakes and subsequent coffee. One really bad member of staff who let the place down miserably. Breakfast was not up to previous nights standards and sorry to say. But from that time on for me it goes downhill. As we had to pay for ours! Our carvery was brilliant staff welcoming. But have one question: why is there a board outside saying amongst its other facilities that it’s “ free Breakfast”? I am puzzled about that one to say the least.
