It was then I could recall those immortal words of our late great Prime Minister Gough Whitlam who said of his own writings‘’ Not only am I an author, but a published one‘’! But seriously a lot of time and energy should go into proof reading something as important as a book. I let it sit for about 2 weeks then went through it again and found no errors, and thus I published. On the 11th occasion I could find no errors. I read it through about 10 times finding a number of errors, maybe 25 in all, and fixed them. My first book was a 2,100 Guitar chord dictionary. ↳Īs someone who has published quite a bit of workshop material and books over the years there are some points raised in this discussion that I wish to take issue with, nothing personal against the poster/s.ġ)‘’Aside from that, if this is a first printing, some amount of typos will inevitably be encountered.‘’ I believe if you’re publishing a tune book, but especially if you’re selling it, you need to ensure that it is accurate and proofread a number of times through. That way anyone can glance at a tune and look at the chords and check those basics are honored. if its not in the key/ mode then it does not belong in the backing. If the-note is not in the tune then it does not belong in the backing. It s reminded me of so many tunes i dont play anymore and should !! Great session material and very helpful im sure for novice backers and any backer for that matter, its not easy figuring out backing on the fly if your not familiar with the tune(s)īut i think a base line is required to evaluate the chords in relation to the tune as written. Over all i think the king street book is very good and the tune selection is good but …. The other thing with chords in books is the chords relate ( hopefully🙂 ) to the tune as written ,but of course tunes are often played differently so the written notes and chords are not definitive, its an aural tradition so the chords played should (imo ) match how the tune is being played in the moment.
